What it can do
- Find transactions and coding problems. Ask for everything coded to an account over a period, duplicates, missing recurring items, or anything that looks out of place. It searches the client’s Xero organisation and explains what it found.
- Analyse hundreds of line items at once. Live from Xero, or from a spreadsheet you upload.
- Draft the client email. Ask for the questions you need to put to a client about a set of transactions and it comes back as an email you can edit and send.
- Prepare working papers from live Xero data. Period comparisons, debtor summaries and reconciliations, produced as Excel files you can open, edit and keep.
- Read PDFs and images. Bank statements, supplier invoices and financial statements a client has sent you, read alongside the Xero data.
- Work across all your client organisations. You choose which clients it may see. Ask about one client, or ask the same question across several.
- Limited access by design. We have limited the tool to only read and analyse data in Xero, without the ability to make changes, giving you the peace of mind that no changes will be made on your behalf.

Get started
The AI Connector for Accountants using Xero is a new product, and we are looking for founding practices to shape it with us.
The first eight practices get four weeks free from the day the first client organisation is connected. After that it’s a monthly fee sized to the number of client organisations you use it with, typically less than one chargeable hour a month, agreed with you before the four weeks end. Set-up and onboarding are included in the monthly fee. Custom features, tools and training can be provided and are scoped separately.

FAQs
What is Claude? What is ChatGPT?
Claude is an AI assistant made by Anthropic, used through a chat window in your browser or desktop app. You ask it a question in plain English and it answers. On its own it only knows what you type or upload; a connector is what lets it read data from another system, in this case your clients’ Xero organisations. ChatGPT is OpenAI’s equivalent; our connector works in either, so you use whichever your practice already has.
Doesn’t Xero already have a Claude connector?
Yes. Xero’s own connector is read-only, works on one organisation at a time, and covers a handful of reports: profit and loss, balance sheet, aged debtors and creditors, invoices and organisation settings. Xero has announced an OpenAI integration as well, and the same distinction applies to it. Our connector gives your assistant nearly twenty read-only tools reaching down to individual transactions, journals, payments and contacts, across the client organisations you choose, and is set up with you on a call.
Can it make changes in Xero?
No. For practices the connector is read-only, so it cannot create, change or approve anything in Xero. We are open to working with practices on enabling specific changes, such as draft journals, but that needs its own scoping and is done together, never switched on by default.
Which plan do we need?
Claude Pro for one person. Claude Team for a practice: the workspace owner adds the connector once, and each person signs in with their own Xero login. On ChatGPT, a Business or Team plan for a practice. We have not tested ChatGPT Plus for one person yet, so ask us before you count on it.
What happens to our data?
Brooklawn Wood provides the connector between Xero and your AI assistant, Claude or ChatGPT. When you ask a question, the connector reads what the question needs from Xero at that moment and passes it to that assistant to answer you. We keep no copy of any client data, and nobody at Brooklawn Wood reads it. Your data is never used to train AI models, by us or by anyone else: Xero’s developer terms forbid it.
